Business is complicated.
Networking is hard.
Marketing is time-consuming.
All of these statements are probably pretty true – especially if you are trying to do it all at once.
But here is what I teach all of my students and my coaching clients: simplify what you are trying to do. Break it down into small, manageable (bite-sized) steps.
I promise you, you will get more done and you will move your business forward faster.
If I counted the number of times a VA told me ‘I am going to spend 2 hours a day on (insert business task here)’, or ‘I’m going to catch up on all 6 lessons from my training course this weekend’, I’d be a millionaire!!
It’s too much!
When you put a plan in place to do a little bit every day (I suggest 20 minutes), you can manage the workload and you can focus very clearly on the task at hand. Then you move forward, even just a little bit.
Then the next day you do the same thing, another 20 minutes, and then you move forward again.
If you did that every day for 2 weeks that is 10 days x 20 minutes – 200 minutes – and I promise you, you will be further ahead than if you try to do it all at once.
Simple is best. And simple is most effective.
And maybe 20 minutes seems to short, so go with 30 minutes (I start with 20 because people who say they are going to spend 30 minutes doing something often lose track of time a couple of hours in!)
Here are some examples of how you can commit to just a small amount of time every day and grow your business exponentially – because you are working on a focused strategy with goals in mind:
Get Clients Now: Get Clients in 10 Minutes
Grow Your Twitter Audience in 30 Minutes a Day
Manage Your Content Marketing in 30 Minutes a Day
Manage All of Your Social Media in 30 Minutes a Day
30 Minutes a Day on LinkedIn: More Clients
It’s not hard to put a great strategy in place that will only take a few minutes of your day.
It doesn’t matter how busy you are, you can find 20 minutes in each day to do what you need to do to grow your business.
Trust me!
I know you are saying I make it sound so easy, but the simpler you make business, the easier and more enjoyable it is!
Don’t overload your schedule trying to get so much done at once.
You’ll end up annoyed, frustrated, confused, overwhelmed and burned out.
Take your time but move forward a little every day.
You will go much further in a shorter period of time.
Give it a try for just one week, and tell me how it goes for you!
