Getting VA Clients is Easy

I recently taught a training session on getting great clients. One of the things I hear VAs lament about all the time is the lack of clients. Or the lack of great clients. If they don’t have clients, they think there are none out there. If they do have clients, they think they need to do whatever the client wants to keep them. I mean, really, who likes to turn down money? But it’s not a way to build a sustainable, awesome business. When you are operating your VA business, YOU get to make the choices – how much to charge, what services to provide, and who you want to work with. If you aren’t comfortable making these three decisions, then you are missing an essential piece of your business. Getting clients is easy – all you have to do… Read More »Getting VA Clients is Easy

What’s The Right Price to Charge For Your VA Services?

How much do you charge for your services? How comfortable do you feel talking about money with clients or potential clients? Are you happy with how much money you end up with at the end of each month? Consider these three questions, and think about how you charge. If you are not reacting positively to all three of these questions, you may not be charging the right price. Pricing can be a huge challenge in any service business. Think about it, you are are asking people to pay for your value. Yes you are completing tasks for them, but really your value comes down to what you bring to the table. So how do you prove how valuable you are?… Read More »What’s The Right Price to Charge For Your VA Services?

Making Lemonade with Lemons In Your VA Business

You know those times that you look at something in your business and just go ‘ugh’? You know the things I mean … either you are looking at revenue that is lower than you expected, or expenses that are higher than expected, or working with a client you don’t adore, or doing tasks you don’t really enjoy. You know, all those things that make you stop and go ‘ugh’! Well the good news is that you are in charge! It’s your business! You can make changes any time you want to. And no one can tell you that you can’t make those changes. Really! How often do we NOT stop to realize that? We are the boss! So I say, when things get you down (big or small),… Read More »Making Lemonade with Lemons In Your VA Business

How Do You Get More VA Clients?

The number one thing VAs tell me about their business is that they do not have enough clients. My coaching clients work with me for various reasons, but one of the main goals that we set it is to get more clients. Your business can not survive if you don’t have people paying you to do the work they need. And yet, it’s something that many VAs just can’t figure out how to do properly. There are many, many reasons why this occurs in your business. Perhaps you aren’t in touch with enough good prospects. Perhaps you don’t have a solid marketing message. Perhaps you don’t have the right intention or goal in place. Perhaps you aren’t saying the right… Read More »How Do You Get More VA Clients?

3 Simple Ways to Improve The Bottom Line in Your VA Business

How is your business going for you? Are you making enough money? Just getting by? Suffering? I hear ya. When we get into business, I think we generally have an idea of how much money we want or need to make. At least, I hope we do! I know I did. I knew how much money I had to bring it to my household, and I worked very hard to make sure I did just that. But after a while if you really look at it, do you think you could be making more money? I bet you could. Once your business settles into itself, and you begin working with clients, the day to day ‘stuff’ can take over –… Read More »3 Simple Ways to Improve The Bottom Line in Your VA Business

What’s the Point to Networking for VAs?

I love talking with VAs about networking. Some of them don’t do any. Some do plenty of it. Most don’t do it right. What?? Yes, there is a right way to network. There is a point to meeting people – what’s yours? If you don’t know, don’t worry. It’s a simple thing – so simple you will laugh actually. Probably. The point of networking is to grow our business. BUT the point of attending any networking gathering has to be clear as well. I spoke recently with a VA who had attended 3 networking events in the last month. First, I’m always proud when VAs get out there … but when I asked her what her goal was from those events,… Read More »What’s the Point to Networking for VAs?

A Lesson About Your Value as a VA

Last week I learned a valuable lesson. Actually that’s a funny choice of words because the lesson was actually about VALUE itself. Here’s the backstory – I went to Walmart last year to get some new contact lenses. I always pick them up from there because it’s convenient and the prices are good. Well this particular trip, the dispensing optician told me that my prescription was more than two years old, which meant that it was invalid and he could not issue the lenses. Hmm. So at the time I needed the contacts because I was travelling and I knew I probably could not get in to see my eye doctor quickly enough. The optician mentioned that they had an eye doc at Walmart… Read More »A Lesson About Your Value as a VA

Do You Do This Too? Accepting Status Quo

This week I was sitting at my desk when wham! Big crash. Suddenly my phone, keyboard, mouse and mousepad were sitting on the floor at my feet, along with my sliding keyboard drawer. You think I would be shocked or stunned. But, no. Ever since I built my desk (don’t judge me!) about 10 years ago I have known that the keyboard drawer has been loose. Yep, right from the get-go. Design flaw I think. But I’ve tolerated it all these years. I can actually tell when it’s loose and might fall, so I can make a quick adjustment and reinforce it, Then I move on until the next time. So this week when it happened I really stopped and took notice.… Read More »Do You Do This Too? Accepting Status Quo
