What Firing My House Cleaner Taught Me About Communication

Do you have an onboarding process for a new client? How about for a new team member? When you bring someone in to work with you in any capacity, you should have an intake procedure that helps you get the information you need from them, and give the information to them that they need to do their job properly. What about communication policies? Do you have a set of rules around how you communicate with people in your business? You should be very clear about who does what, and how everyone communicate with each other. I learned a valuable lesson about both of these things recently – and it had nothing to do with clients or team members (well, not really!). It had… Read More »What Firing My House Cleaner Taught Me About Communication

Do This 3 Times a Day and Watch Your Productivity Soar

Do you get to the end of every day and still have a long list of things to do?  Or worse, do you work later than you planned too often because you still have so much to do at the end of your day? Have you ever considered why that happens? We often blame it on our task lists being too long to start with … but it’s probably not that at all. When you regularly run out of time before your daily tasks are completed, first check how much you are putting on your to-do list. If it should have been manageable enough, then it’s time to look at exactly how you are spending your time every day. Manage your schedule instead… Read More »Do This 3 Times a Day and Watch Your Productivity Soar

What’s Your Morning Routine as a VA?

I have had several conversations about routines lately. I guess at this time of the year it can be challenging to get back into the swing of things after taking some time off for the holidays. Do you have a morning routine? The conversation I started was about your business routine, but certainly a lot of people talked about getting up early to work out, or walk pets, or read before getting started on work. I don’t have a real morning routine per se, but I do make a point of doing one thing: I do a whole hour of business work before I ever check email and voicemail. Every single morning.  I learned a long time ago that getting up and… Read More »What’s Your Morning Routine as a VA?

Is Your Marketing Plan Rocking or Sucking?

It’s a good idea to check in regularly with where you’re at in terms of your marketing plan goals and objectives. You should definitely look at these numbers at least quarterly, but it is even better to look at them once a month (or once a week!). Your goals might include things like revenue, number of sign-ups to your list, number of products sold, number of visitors to your website and blog – and so on. Regardless of what you measure, you want to make sure you take time out regularly to see how you’re doing. Is your marketing rocking or sucking? Are you rocking? If you are humming right along and reaching your objectives – that’s fantastic. Check in… Read More »Is Your Marketing Plan Rocking or Sucking?

Do You Make Time for Self Care?

I think it’s a female thing. Taking care of others before taking care of ourselves. I don’t do it on purpose, and you might not either, but it happens. It’s often instinctive. That never-ending list of things we need to get done ticks away in our heads and sometimes we forget that we need to slow down. We need to take time for ourselves. To care for ourselves. Do you make time? I remember way before my VA days, I was in my early 20s trying to figure out what I was going to be when I grew up. I was working as a courier driving packages around the city. It was a good job and I was able to… Read More »Do You Make Time for Self Care?

What Will You Do This Week to Find New VA Clients?

Do you need a new client? Most VAs will answer YES! to that question without hesitation. But do you know where your next client is going to come from? If you don’t answer that question as quickly as the first one, then you need to get a plan in place! There are many places you can find your next client. The best thing to do is to build a system into your business where you can find new clients easily in a few different places. And then you need to network! Online, offline, start getting out to events and really connecting with people to fill your pipeline. If you talk to just 2 people a day about your business (and… Read More »What Will You Do This Week to Find New VA Clients?

Daily Actions to Help You Get More Done

How does your to-do list look? I bet some days it makes you want to bury your head in the sand. I know mine does sometimes! The idea that we have so much to do and not enough time to do it is common for business owners. Overwhelm is often the word of the day! It’s how we manage our time that will help us get things done, or stay in overwhelm. So I thought I would share a few of my tips with you so that you can move past that feeling and get back into control of your to-do list. 1. Write it all down. First things first, you have to be able to look at what needs… Read More »Daily Actions to Help You Get More Done

Virtual Assisants: Are You Waiting on a Client Payment?

One of the crappiest things that can happen to you in your VA business is to have to wait for someone to pay you. There really isn’t any good way to describe it. I hope you don’t mind! 😉 It causes you stress, worry, anger, upset and a whole host of other emotions. You might even be ashamed by it. How could you let it happen? Particularly if the client hasn’t paid you for a few months and you are still doing their work. Let me tell you something – many of us have been there. I know I have. I have chased money, and continued to work as the balance owed increased. Ugh. What an awful feeling. So what… Read More »Virtual Assisants: Are You Waiting on a Client Payment?
