What is the Secret to Being a Successful Virtual Assistant?

Ah the secret to success. Everyone wants to know it. We want the shortcut, the path of correct decisions that gets us the clients, the money, the lifestyle.

The fact is that business is hard.

There are so many things that you need to learn in order to do well in business.

You have probably already come across many things that you have struggled with.

But there is a secret to success – and I want to share it with you.

The secret to building an AMAZING VA business is really a combination of three things:

Decide what your best service offering is
+
Charge the right amount of money to provide it
+
Work with the people who need you the most
=
SUCCESS

I’ve been talking about this ‘secret’ for years – and the VAs that I know that work with it, see the success.

The ones that skip one of the three (or all of them) suffer.

Which one do you want to be?

Let’s break the formula pieces down:

What Is Your Best Service Offering?

You have probably heard me say before ‘What comes easiest to you is what you should be charging the most for.’ One of my business coaches gave me this advice many years ago, and that’s how I built my VA business.

Whatever you do that is effortless (or easy), others struggle with it. Whether that’s bookkeeping, organization, managing lots of details, being creative, or writing … what is it that you do without very much effort?

THAT is your best service offering!

And that’s what you should be offering to your clients. We want to provide services that we love to our clients – and when something comes easily to you and really helps your clients out, it is so easy to love!

How Much Should You Charge To Do It?

Calculating your rates properly is so important in your business. The revenue you will bring in is what will keep your business going – or close it. So the math and the money is essential to get right.

How do you decide what you should charge? Figuring out how much you need to earn every month is the first step. Calculating your billable rate is the next step.

And yes, you can do some competitive research to find out what others of your calibre are charging their clients, but you need to do your own math as well.

Whatever you decide to charge, be sure that you price it right. Figure out how much time you will take to provide your service offering and what your level of expertise is, to come up with the right number.

Who Are Your Best Clients?

There are a few parameters that will make up your ‘best’ clients.

More than anything, who needs the service you provide? Don’t waste time convincing clients or educating them about what they need. The clients that need you most are the ones that realize they need you. Find them and connect with them.

You also need to ensure that the clients you decide to support are going to be good clients. We call it being a viable group or industry. They want you , they need you and they can afford to pay you.

So, find them and help them! Lots of them!

Fill your VA business with great clients who need what you have to offer, and have no problem paying you to do it for them.

Doesn’t that sound like success to you? It’s just three things – but you have to get them right And when you do, let me know. I’m excited to watch you get exactly what you want!
