Episode Notes:
As we kick off the new year, I thought it would be the perfect time to highlight my top 5 episodes from 2025. These episodes resonated the most with you, my listeners, and I’m so excited to revisit them today. If you’re new here or missed any of these gems, this is your chance to catch up. And if you’ve heard them before, consider this a refresher to inspire your next steps.
Episode 1: How to Find a Virtual Assistant Client in a Week
Starting a VA business can feel like an uphill battle, especially when you’re searching for that first client. I know that’s why this episode resonated so deeply with so many of you. In How to Find a Virtual Assistant Client in a Week, I talked about the simple things you need to put in place to start getting clients in 7 days.
You have to begin by knowing who you can help – your target market. If you are struggling to get clients, start here. Figure out who you can help – specifically.
Make sure your online presence showcases what you are telling people. If your LinkedIn profile doesn’t tell people what you can do for them, polish it up! Everything should be congruent.
We talked about networking – this honestly is the quickest way to get clients. Talk to people who need services like those you offer.
Ask for referrals – you know people. And they know people. When you are clear about what you do and who you help, you can get the right referrals.
And finally follow up – if you have started a conversation, be sure to finish it. The fortune really is in the follow up and you could be one conversation or email away from getting a new client!
If you’re still searching for your next client or just want to refine your client-hunting strategy, go back and re-listen to this episode. It’s a game-changer for anyone who wants results FAST.
Episode 2: Essential Skills Every 50K VA Must Have
Have you ever wondered what separates a good virtual assistant from a great one? In Essential Skills Every 50K VA Must Have, we broke it all down. This episode outlined the must-have skills that allow VAs to command premium rates and work with high-quality clients.
In this particular episode, we talked about Core Skills and Soft Skills.
The 3 most important core skills I think you need to master are: project management, social media management and specialized VA services or skills.
When you are looking to work with high level clients, they have a lot on the go, and they need to be able to rely on you to get things done quickly, without micro managing.
When you master project management, you can manage team members, lead times, deadlines, and more. Keeping things moving forward, at whatever pace they are going, is essential.
Social media is another key – and it doesn’t mean you have to be a master social media manager, but you need to be able to get the word out about whatever your clients are doing. So understanding how to manage a launch schedule or a nurture campaign are key.
Specialized skills – you don’t have to learn anything to specialize (not really) – you need to do what you know best. Even if that’s general admin. EAs, who are arguably the top paid admins in corporate, do general admin. It’s essential and it’s a specialty. But narrowing down your services to really specific offerings elevates your VA business.
We also talked about essential soft skills you need in this episode – go back and have a listen and figure out what you need to work on to be an elite VA.
I loved creating this episode because it wasn’t just about skills; it was about mindset. The idea is to step into the role of a professional VA who doesn’t just meet expectations but exceeds them.
Episode 3: How You Can Stand Out in the VA Industry
The virtual assistant industry is growing faster than ever, and with that growth comes competition. How You Can Stand Out in the VA Industry was one of the most popular episodes of the year because it addressed a question on every VA’s mind: How do I get noticed?
Picking a niche or a target market is the number one thing you can do to stand out. I work with speakers. I work with podcasters. I work with health professionals. That speaks so much louder than I am a VA who helps all business owners. Make your audience notice you!
Working virtually means people often won’t meet you in person. Make sure your online presence is strong and tells them about how you can help them in their business. It’s not about you, it’s all about them.
Exceptional customer service is where the best VAs set themselves apart from others. Their clients trust them and know where to find the info they need when they need it so everyone’s time is valued.
Continued education – when you are in the VA world for life, you will need to keep on top of trends, and new technology and topics. Keeping yourself educated will keep you at the front of the pack.
This episode wasn’t just about being different for the sake of it. It was about leaning into your strengths and creating a unique identity that speaks to your ideal clients.
If you’ve been feeling like just another face in a crowded marketplace, this episode is your blueprint for making waves.
Episode 4: 5 Social Media Content Tricks for VAs
Social media is an essential tool for virtual assistants, whether you’re marketing your own business or helping clients grow theirs. In 5 Social Media Content Tricks for VAs, I shared practical, time-saving strategies that make creating content a breeze.
The most important tip was number 1 – speak directly to your audience. Go and look at your social media posts. Are you talking to anyone in particular? If not, then your audience will not recognize that you can help them. Be sure everything you put out there is for THEM, not about you.
We also gave you some other great tips in this episode, but I think if you change that one thing you will notice the results quickly.
The cool thing about this episode is how it empowered you to work smarter, not harder, when it comes to social media.
Many of you reached out to share how these tips streamlined your content creation process, giving you more time to focus on your clients and your growth.
Re-listen for the other 4 tips here.
Episode 5: Master Your Communication Skills to Be an Elite VA
Finally, let’s talk about communication—the foundation of every successful VA-client relationship. In Master Your Communication Skills to Be an Elite VA, we explored how clear, effective communication can set you apart and elevate your business.
Clear communication helps you manage your scope of work well. It helps you work efficiently and manage your time effectively. – and therefore, your client’s budget.
Managing expectations is the key to good relationships with your clients.
I also gave you some tips to communicate better in this episode – go listen to it and start implementing those today!
This episode was all about helping you become a trusted, reliable partner for your clients—someone they can’t imagine running their business without. It’s one of my favorite topics because communication is where confidence and competence meet.
And there you have it—our top five episodes from 2025!
Each of these episodes tackled a key challenge or skill that virtual assistants face, and they’ve all been pivotal in helping you grow your business and thrive in this industry.
If any of these episodes spoke to you or if you missed one, I encourage you to go back, re-listen, and take action on what you learn. Growth doesn’t happen by chance; it happens when you show up and put in the work.
