5 Virtual Assistant Clients in One Month? Yes …

Recently I took some time away from work to recover from a surgical procedure. I learned that consistent marketing and networking are essential in business. I knew this already, of course, but I really saw the results of slowing down or stopping while I was ‘off’. My pipeline didn’t dry up, but many of the relationships I had take the time to nurture started to slow down. When you are out of sight, you definitely start to become out of mind. Quickly. So how did I get 5 new clients last month? Yes, you read that right. I just did my networking statistics for the month and I got 5 new clients. Here’s exactly how I did it: 1. Networking Plan. Once… Read More »5 Virtual Assistant Clients in One Month? Yes …

Can Your Potential VA Clients Find You? Do This One Thing.

Marketing can be a challenge in any business, but some people have a more difficult time getting their head around it. That’s why I teach it! I try to take the confusion out of what to say, where to say it, and who to say it to. When a lot of VAs get started, we think our marketing message is to tell people about being a VA. I thought the same thing. I thought I had to explain to people how a VA works. My webpage showed what a VA is, and I had lots of info about me being a VA. That was a long time ago, but I still remember the struggle of getting clients. Why? Because it… Read More »Can Your Potential VA Clients Find You? Do This One Thing.

Where Will You Find Your Next VA Client?

I love being a Virtual Assistant. I love working with my clients, and I love meeting prospective clients. I know this, but it’s interesting what really reminds you of that sentiment. I have been recovering from surgery the last couple of weeks and to say I am going stir crazy is probably an understatement. Not only do I have to heal, but I have some limitations imposed by doctor’s orders. No swimming and no driving. And no lifting things over 10 pounds. So what’s a girl to do? The lifting part I’ve got down. That means no laundry!! Easy enough. But the other two – no driving and no swimming? I had planned to spend my time ‘off’ by the… Read More »Where Will You Find Your Next VA Client?

Do You Really Have What It Takes To Be a Successful Virtual Assistant?

Getting into business is easy. Staying in business … not so much. There is the basic stuff that you have to know, like business and marketing, of course, but that’s not what I’m talking about. I’m talking about you. Your personality. Your perseverance. Your personal strength. Arlene Dickinson talks about this in her book All In. She says if you don’t have the personal strength (she calls it a few different things – mental muscle is one of my favourites – but basically it is really about resilience and personal strength) then you will not be able to cut it as an entrepreneur. I totally agree with this. Not everyone has the mental strength to be a business owner, and… Read More »Do You Really Have What It Takes To Be a Successful Virtual Assistant?

It Takes a Minimum of 21 Days to Form a New Habit

Lately I have been working on a new strategy to market my business. My business has changed completely in the last year – totally planned changes! – I have gone from running a full time VA business of my own, with some VA training and coaching on the side – to now owning two VA associations, and having my training and coaching at the forefront, and my VA business considerably downsized. It’s been a complete flip – and with that come new challenges. I have earned my main income from my VA business for many, many years now. I know how to market it. I know how to network for it. I know how to find clients whenever I want… Read More »It Takes a Minimum of 21 Days to Form a New Habit

Did You Reach Your Goals This Month?

I taught a workshop this month about goal setting. I know, I know. I talk about goals a lot. But as a business owner, goals are essential to your success, your profit and your growth. If you don’t know what you are trying to achieve – then how can you achieve it? I set lots of goals. Some I reach, others I don’t. I don’t beat myself up about the things that don’t go well. But I do ask myself why they might have failed, so that I can do better next time. For instance, I joined a 100 connections challenge earlier this year. The challenge was to reach out 100 people in 100 days about your business. That means… Read More »Did You Reach Your Goals This Month?

What Will You Do This Week to Find New VA Clients?

Do you need a new client? Most VAs will answer YES! to that question without hesitation. But do you know where your next client is going to come from? If you don’t answer that question as quickly as the first one, then you need to get a plan in place! There are many places you can find your next client. The best thing to do is to build a system into your business where you can find new clients easily in a few different places. And then you need to network! Online, offline, start getting out to events and really connecting with people to fill your pipeline. If you talk to just 2 people a day about your business (and… Read More »What Will You Do This Week to Find New VA Clients?

How To Start Conversations with Potential VA Clients

One of the things I see VAs struggle with is how to start conversations with potential clients. Whether it’s online or in person, a simple networking conversation is something that can stop a lot of VAs in their tracks. But when I teach someone how to start a conversation, a light often goes on. Why? Because once they know what they should be talking about, things become so much easier. Here’s an example: You are headed to a live networking event full of potential clients. You prepare your elevator speech and off you go. The first person you meet introduces themself and then asks you what you do. You launch into a one-minute rehearsed elevator speech that they have to… Read More »How To Start Conversations with Potential VA Clients
