Did You Reach Your Goals This Month?

I taught a workshop this month about goal setting. I know, I know. I talk about goals a lot. But as a business owner, goals are essential to your success, your profit and your growth. If you don’t know what you are trying to achieve – then how can you achieve it? I set lots of goals. Some I reach, others I don’t. I don’t beat myself up about the things that don’t go well. But I do ask myself why they might have failed, so that I can do better next time. For instance, I joined a 100 connections challenge earlier this year. The challenge was to reach out 100 people in 100 days about your business. That means… Read More »Did You Reach Your Goals This Month?

Do You Dream Big?

Have you ever made a vision board? I attended a workshop last week that was hosted by a colleague – it was called Grilled Cheese and Girl Talk. Why on Earth would I not attend such an event?! (you had me at grilled cheese!) The workshop was put on for us to make vision boards. And they even fed us, courtesy of MLTDWN. Wow. So good! I am not a creative person. I honestly have done so many personality tests and brain tests and my creativity is almost totally stifled by my logical side of my brain. So I never GOT what it was to do a vision board. I have never done one prior to last week. Sure I set… Read More »Do You Dream Big?

How To Keep Your New Year’s Resolutions

The New Year always brings new intentions. It’s a fresh start, and everyone has new ideas they want to implement into their life and business. I know I do! I laugh as I look through my social media news feeds and see people joking about the increase in traffic at the gym. That’s always one of the biggest resolutions people have. To get in shape. Go to the gym. But by the end of January, many of those people just stop going. I have friends who tell me that they actually don’t go to the gym in January because the newbies are all there, but by the end of January it’s safe for them to head back because it starts… Read More »How To Keep Your New Year’s Resolutions

How’s Business?

One of the things I get asked in almost all social situations is ‘How’s business?’ My family and friends know that I run my own business so it always seems to come up. I don’t know whether they are really curious as to what is going on with my work, or if it’s just a knee-jerk question, but it is very common. My colleagues, on the other hand, often seem to ask the same thing – and I KNOW they are really wondering how things are going! đŸ™‚ Having VA buddies is fabulous, because they really do GET what my business is about. And that’s when the conversation flies! So I ask you – how’s business? What do you have… Read More »How’s Business?

My Challenge to You

We are heading into the final quarter of the year already. So with the beginning of a new quarter upon us, it’s time for a challenge! Pick a goal, any goal. No, not really. Pick one of these goals: 1. Get one new client. 2. Develop a new daily routine. 3. Set communication boundaries for your clients. 4. Raise your rates. 5. Set up or update your networking calendar. Okay so there are five good goals. Pick one that you want to achieve. Now here is the challenge. Set the deadline to achieve that goal in 30 days. Write the deadline on your calendar. State your intention. So today is September 23rd. If you choose number one, ‘I will get… Read More »My Challenge to You

How to Get More Done Starting Today

Things have been exceeding busy in my work and life the last several months. From a personal standpoint, I have helped run three huge fund raisers and I have also been acting as campaign advisor for a friend of mine who is running for a city council position in the municipal election. I also hosted two huge parties at our house – one a family reunion (of sorts) and the other our annual pig roast and bocce tournament (usually with about 70 attendees). From a business standpoint, I have been uber busy as my clients are all very busy, successful business coaches who are rolling out great new products and programs. And, I rolled out a new session of my… Read More »How to Get More Done Starting Today

What Is It You Really Want For Your VA Business?

As this year is coming to a close, we are once again in planning and strategizing mode for the upcoming year. It’s a time to reflect on the year that has passed, and a time to look forward to see what we want to accomplish in the new year. One of the key pieces to setting up for a new cycle of business is to consider your goals. Business goals, personal goals, any goals you want. When you know what you want, you can plot the course or the direction that will take you there. By putting a tangible goal on paper, and then determining the steps you need to take to reach that goal, you can break it down… Read More »What Is It You Really Want For Your VA Business?

Are you looking at the big picture?

I’m writing this as I am away at my mastermind retreat with some Virtual Assistant colleagues. Each year we take a few days and travel to a cottage to brainstorm, work on our businesses, and to relax from the busy-ness of our businesses. One of the things we do before we get to our retreat is we plan what we want to get done while we are there. We all do marketing and networking and business building on a regular basis, but the retreat allows us to look at the big picture … I find that’s something we don’t always take the time to do. When we can turn off the noises around us and just reflect on where we… Read More »Are you looking at the big picture?
